Need a break? Too much work? Wanna relax? First date? Whatever the occasion be, coffee just seems to perfectly fit in the mug of our everyday life. Many people start off their day with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. On the occasion of International Coffee Day, let's go back in the memory lane and revisit some of our favorite coffee commercials.

Nestlé’s Stammering Comedian

In 2014 Nestle India decided to revamp its coffee brand Nescafe with new packing and wholesome theme #itAllStarts. Nescafe ads always have the perfect balance of emotions and storytelling. The 2 minutes long ad of Nescafe just made everyone fall in love with the stammering comedian. The story starts with Hussain Dalal (fun fact he is also the dialogue writer of superhit movie yeh jawani hai dewani) portraying the main character who shares his journey as a stammering comedian. The world rejected him as a comedian, but he kept going and turned his stammering into the best punch line. Rishi doesn't give up on his dream and finally makes it to the big stage as a successful stand-up comedian. Nescafe gave this ad a digital lunch and even had a #ItallStarts twitter campaign, where Nescafe asked their followers to share their story of resolve.

Nescafe's The stubborn RJ

It’s hard to start but harder to stay. The Stubborn RJ and his cup of coffee totally won everyone's heart in 2016. The video features Actor Sumeet Thakur playing the role of RJ Rishi, who hosts a morning 5.30 show, desperately trying to have some listeners. Days passes by but the audience doesn’t grow but it’s a stubborn RJ who isn’t ready to give up on his hopes and tries different tricks and tactics to gain some audience. But who listens to the radio at 5.30 in the morning? That’s when a bright idea strucks Rishi's mind while having his cup of coffee. He decides to turn his weakness into a strength. He invites callers to speak their heart out, express themselves to the world without fearing of being judged because “humhe koi nahi sunn raha (no one is listening to us)” and it works!! The calls starts to pouring in, people expressing their hatred towards their bosses, seeking an apology, proposing love. Rishi finally succeeds. The ad conveys a beautiful message of the persistence of the #staystarted campaign.

Laughing Man Coffee

In the most commercial of Laughing Man Coffee we get a glimpse of a day in the life of Hugh Jackman the founder of the company. The advert is narrated by his long time frenemy Ryan Reynolds which makes the advert even more special for the people. The advert revolves around the idea that how a good cup of coffee can have an immediate effect on a person's behavior. The commercial starts with Hugh Jackman waking up all in a grumpy and bad mood while Ryan Reynolds trolls him with his narration. Ryan calls him the "goodwill ambassador" while Hugh is seen contradicting the statement by swearing at his dog and shouting at the kids playing on the streets. The biggest contrast comes when Ryan calls him "eternal optimistic" and Hugh is seen staring at the wall while death metal music plays in the background. That's when he decides to have coffee and his mood changes and he becomes the Hugh Jackman we all know and love. The commercial ends with Ryan explaining that Hugh Jackman donates 100 percent of profits from the coffee brand to fair trade farmers around the world, calling Laughing Man Coffee "the nicest fucking coffee on earth."
